Program Overview

The Medina Foundation recognizes the challenges faced by children in Haiti, particularly the rising influence of gang violence and abuse. Our Child Education Sponsorship Program aims to provide vulnerable children with educational opportunities, mentorship, and safe environments, helping them to avoid the dangers associated with gangs.

Program Objectives

Here are our direct program objectives for the children in Haiti.

Increase Access to Education

  • Provide financial support for school tuition, uniforms, supplies, and transportation to ensure children can attend school consistently.
  • Partner with local schools to enhance the quality of education, focusing on curriculum enrichment and extra-curricular activities

Create Safe Spaces

  • Establish after-school programs that offer safe, supervised environments where children can engage in educational, recreational, and social activities.
  • Implement community centers that serve as safe havens, offering structured activities and support.

Mentorship and Guidance

  • Recruit and train local mentors who can provide guidance, support, and positive role models for children at risk of gang involvement.
  • Organize workshops and discussions on conflict resolution, self-esteem, and making positive life choices.

Community Awareness and Involvement

  •  Foster community engagement to raise awareness about the impacts of gang violence and the importance of education in breaking the cycle of poverty and violence.
  • Collaborate with local leaders, parents, and community organizations to advocate for children's rights and educational access.

Psychosocial Support

  • Provide psychological support services, including counseling for children traumatized by violence, to help them cope and build resilience
  • Offer workshops focused on emotional intelligence, stress management, and coping strategies.
